Broker Action Coalition Names Jamie Cavanaugh Chief Executive Officer
30-year mortgage industry veteran will lead BAC’s next chapter of growth, expanding its reach, resources, and impact
WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 31, 2026) — The Broker Action Coalition (BAC), the grassroots advocacy organization representing independent mortgage brokers and their supporters in national policy, today announced the appointment of Jamie Cavanaugh as Chief Executive Officer.
Cavanaugh, a 30-year veteran of the mortgage industry and longtime leader in the mortgage broker community, will lead the BAC into its next chapter, with a focus on amplifying the organization’s voice, growing its movement and resources, and building on an advocacy operation that has already demonstrated an ability to deliver meaningful results.
Cavanaugh has owned and managed multiple mortgage companies throughout her career and currently serves as CEO of reAlpha Mortgage. She will continue to lead reAlpha Mortgage while also serving as CEO of the BAC, extending her longstanding commitment to mortgage industry advocacy.
“I’ve spent three decades in the mortgage industry, and advocacy has been an important part of my work for a long time. I’ve seen firsthand how decisions made in Washington affect mortgage professionals, businesses, and, ultimately, the consumers we serve,” Cavanaugh said. “BAC has already proven what focused, effective advocacy can accomplish. My goal is to build on that foundation. To expand our reach, bring more people into the movement, and make sure BAC has the resources and influence to be an even stronger voice for the industry.”
Cavanaugh also issued a call to brokers to become more active in the organization.
“If you believe brokers deserve a strong voice in the decisions that affect our businesses and our clients, get involved. Support the BAC. Show up. Donate. Help us grow this movement,” Cavanaugh said. “And if you don’t come find me first, that’s okay. I’ll darken your doorstep eventually.”
BAC President and Co-Founder Brendan McKay will continue in his current role and partner closely with Cavanaugh to lead the organization. Cavanaugh will focus heavily on organizational strategy, growth, and resources, while McKay will remain focused on advocacy, policy, and industry relationships.
“Jamie is smart, ethical, and relentless. There isn’t a more respected person in the broker community, and saying I’m excited to have her on board helping lead the BAC would be a drastic understatement,” McKay said. “The engine that keeps the BAC chugging along is fueled by passion, and Jamie has it in spades. The broker channel is her community, and she is going to fight like hell for the people in it. Her combination of experience, credibility, energy, and fearlessness is exactly what the BAC needs for its next chapter.”
McKay added, “Jamie is taking the helm of an organization that is stable, growing, and already doing work we are incredibly proud of. Now it’s time to crank up the volume and bring more people and resources into the movement.”
The leadership transition comes after several years of significant growth for the BAC and its grassroots advocacy network. Since its founding, the organization has brought independent mortgage brokers directly into the policymaking process through congressional meetings, grassroots campaigns, coalition building, regulatory advocacy, and its annual Advocacy in Action fly-in. That work included a multi-year campaign to end abusive trigger lead practices, generating hundreds of meetings with lawmakers and tens of thousands of messages to Congress before legislation ultimately passed.
Cavanaugh succeeds Rachel Clark, who is stepping down as Executive Director.
Clark has been involved with the BAC since its early days, beginning as a Texas State Captain and Co-Chair of the State Government Affairs Advocacy Council before taking on an operational leadership role and ultimately becoming Executive Director.
“Rachel’s contributions to the BAC are difficult to overstate,” McKay said. “She poured an extraordinary amount of herself into this organization, often doing the difficult work behind the scenes that made the things people saw on the outside possible. The BAC Jamie is stepping into is stable, growing, and positioned for an exciting next chapter because Rachel helped build that foundation. I have enormous respect for what she gave to this organization, and I will always be grateful for the role she played in getting us here.”
