Mission

The Broker Action Coalition (BAC) is the grassroots advocacy channel uniting mortgage brokers and their supporters to fight for broker and homebuyer rights nationwide. The BAC aims to level the playing field between independent mortgage brokers and retail banks, to support inclusive homebuying policy change, and to fight for the needs of Veterans, minorities, and underserved communities to make the American dream of homeownership possible for more people than ever before.

Leadership

Katie Sweeney

CEO & Co-Founder

Katie became the CEO of the BAC on January 16th, 2024. Previously the Chairman and CEO of the Association of Independent Mortgage Experts (AIME) since 2020, Katie has overseen broker advocacy operations, spearheaded  partnership development, advocacy & lobbying efforts, and wholesale growth initiatives.

She has overseen the initial development of the BAC, established more wholesale policy influence than ever seen before with the BAC’s Political Action Committee (BACPAC), established state-by-state lobbying representation with the BAC State Captains Program.

Katie’s contributions to the growth and success of the entire wholesale channel have been noted by many leading industry publications:

Brendan McKay

Chief Advocacy Officer & Co-Founder

On January 16th, 2024, Brendan brought broker advocacy levels to new heights when he became the Chief Advocacy Officer for the Broker Action Coalition. Since 2021, Brendan has been the President of Advocacy for the Association of Independent Mortgage Experts (AIME), meeting regularly with members of Congress to advocate for mortgage brokers and homebuyers across the country. 


He has spearheaded a number of advocacy successes through this career, including the largest PAC that has ever existed for mortgage brokers, the BACPAC, passing of the Disabled Veterans Tax Exemption in multiple states, granting Brokers access to the Hometown Heroes program in Florida, and much more. Brendan’s role with the BAC is pivotal to the future of the community’s growth and amplifies the needs of wholesale mortgage professionals and their homebuyers to policymakers on Capitol Hill.
